Getting there by Air

El Salvador has the largest international airport of all Central America. Lately, however, with all the problems the airline industry has had, many of the major US carriers do not offer flights to El Salvador themselves but have teamed up with Grupo Taca which offers most of the flights there. The following is a list of airlines flying there.:

• TACA

• Aviateca

• LACSA

• Delta Airlines

• COPA

• Continental Airlines

• American Airlines

• Iberia

Many hotels have been recently built near the airport to accomodate those passengers who are in transit. The airport itself is located about 40 minutes from San Salvador and there are plenty of taxis willing to take visitors. Make sure you haggle with them as they will try to get as much of your money as possible.
